How to Help Your Elderly Loved One Enjoy Halloween in Little Rock, AK

Halloween can be a time for families to join seniors for a bit of seasonal fun. There are many different games that are easy to play and are appropriate for participants of all ages. Here are a few that come highly recommended by Arkansas live-in caregivers.

Making Mummies

Create teams consisting of seniors and other family members. Each team selects one person to play the mummy. When a family member says, “go” each team uses toilet paper to wrap their mummy. The first team to successfully complete the mission wins.

Halloween Scramble

Select words that have a Halloween theme. Scramble the letters of each word, write them as a list, and make copies for each participant. Challenge seniors and younger family members alike to correctly unscramble and identify the words. The person with the most correct answers wins.

Pumpkin Golf

Create a makeshift ramp using cardboard or other sturdy items. Decorate the ramp as desired. Make a hole on the high end and place an open-mouthed plastic pumpkin beneath the hole. Take turns trying to hit the golf ball up the ramp, into the hole and into the pumpkin. Each successful try wins a piece of candy.

Halloween Beanbag Toss

Get a sizable box, turn it upside down and decorate the outsides with Halloween scenes or characters. On the bottom of the box, cut holes of varying sizes and designate points for each hole. Let all take turns attempting to throw beanbags into the holes. The person with the highest score wins.

Pumpkin Tic-Tac-Toe

Using poster board, create a tic-tac-toe board consisting of nine squares. Make black cat heads and orange pumpkins out of paper. You could also select white and orange miniature pumpkins as the game pieces. Let seniors and family members challenge each other to games of tic-tac-toe.

Ghoulish Word Search Puzzles

Find and print Halloween-based word search puzzles. Use the same puzzle for all of the game players. Either set a random time to determine who finds the most words, or determine the winner by whoever finishes first.
